Kihon Kumite
Kihon Kumite are a set of prearranged semi-free sparring / fighting techniques designed to enable the student to develop skills they have learned through practicing the the Ohyo techniques. Kihon enables the student to become adept at the more rapid combat techniques that are required to achieve 1st dan level.
Kihon Kumite is conducted in a formal manner with both participants facing each other in their relevant Kihon stance. Prior to engagement, the attacker and defender are stationary and no warning of an impending attack is given. This enables the further sharpening of spatial awareness, reflexes and critical timing.
